Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 got great reviews for a budget phone back in 2018. It had superb specs, amazing cameras, and a price that made even OnePlus pick up its jaw up off the floor. Since then, the phone has achieved several milestones, including getting Android 9.0 and revamping its UI.

The latest MIUI 10 9.3.1 Beta update allows users to test out 60FPS recording in 1080P and 4K. There is a catch, however – users will not be able to use Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), which is offered in 30FPS recording options.

Let’s take a look at some recording samples from YouTube to see just how well the phone records at 4K/60FPS. For an optimal viewing experience, we recommend watching the videos in 2160P. These are some very impressive results for a phone in the $300 price range.

Overall, the phone does a good job of maintaining a consistent focus and good color detail in an outdoor environment. By comparison, the OnePlus 6T was unable to maintain a steady focus in outdoor environments, as shown in the videos above.

It is worth noting that Dewang Rocker (see second clip) shared the file size of his 4K/60FPS video of 5 minutes and 26 seconds. It was only 1.72 GB, which is exceptional for the quality.

He also mentions that Samsung phones and OnePlus phones heated up during similar recording sessions, but he faced no issues with recording on the Pocophone F1.

While the aforementioned phones cut off 4K recording time at 5 minutes, Dewang Rocker was able to record a video clip 26 seconds longer than that.

AndroidStud’s video showed off zoom performance with astonishing results. But commenters on the video have pointed out the lack of image stability during recording. For the price, there have to be some cutbacks, right?

The update also adds Widevine L1 support for Hulu and Amazon Prime, but not for Netflix.

In addition, it will fix some of the ghost touch issues users have been facing.

While we don’t have a date for the public rollout of the new update, it should be out very soon.
