New Samsung Galaxy S10 leak hints at Infinity-O display

The world was eagerly waiting for Samsung’s official announcement of the Galaxy S10. The Korean phone manufacturer usually announces its phones in February, but the public doesn’t have to wait any longer as the phone specs have just been leaked.

This is the first big leak of the smartphone. We can expect more leaks to be released over the coming weeks. The leaks were released by veteran smartphone leaker Evan Blass on his Twitter account. According to Blass, the leak shows one of Samsung’s upcoming flagship models. Blass has given Galaxy S10 the codename “Beyond 1.”

The photos show a phone with slim dimensions and bezel-less display. There is a bit of thickness at the bottom for the chin. It is expected that the phone will have four variants. According to Blass, the one in the leaks is the standard model. There will be a cheaper model, a 5G model, and a larger “plus” model.

According to Blass, the phone will have the capability to wirelessly charge other “compatible” devices like smartwatches and smartphones. Blass hasn’t clarified what exactly he meant when he mentioned other “compatible” devices. It is unclear in what way the devices should be compatible.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro, that launched in October 2018, has the ability to wirelessly charge other devices that have Qi charging. So it seems that Samsung is following Huawei’s footsteps. Samsung has a higher chance of making this technology go mainstream, as Huawei products are banned in the US.

Blass is more famously known as EVLeaks and has an impeccable track record when it comes to smartphone leaks. He previously leaked the Galaxy S9 and S9+ phones back in January of last year, a month before Samsung had officially launched the phones.

It looks like Samsung has fully embraced the punch hole display trend. The phone has a tiny “hole” in the top right corner of the display. Users will love the thin bezels but might be bugged by tiny “hole” in the display.

Samsung A8s was the company’s first phone to feature the Infinity-O hole-punch display. Other than that, the company had managed to avoid putting a notch display on their phones last year. But now Samsung has changed its strategy.

Samsung, during SDC 2018 keynote, said they will release phones having four types of notch displays: Infinity U, Infinity V, Infinity O, and New Infinity. If the phone doesn’t have a notch display, Samsung will call it “New Infinity.”

Samsung had previously been against the notch. It even poked fun at Apple for introducing the notch. The company will now have to eat its words as it moves forward. The Korean tech behemoth will most likely add notch display to most of the upcoming lineup of phones.

Not much else is known about the latest Samsung flagship phone, apart from the display and physical dimensions.

It will be interesting to see how much the phone resembles the leaked version once Samsung officially unveils the S10.
