It’s fall already and all the tech companies are holding back to back events this month. As for the smartphones industry, we are good. The laptop manufacturers are not staying behind and are also holding events for the holidays season.
As informed earlier Microsoft holding an event planned for today’s afternoon in New York. We now have some more information which we’ll discuss.
First of all, it’s not a software event so Windows 10 will not be in this event. It’s more of a hardware event which means that we could expect Surface products from Microsoft.
The invitation from Microsoft doesn’t hold much information. It says “a moment of your time.” This could mean a Surface Watch…. definitely not a Surface phone.
We could expect Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Pro 6 and they both might lack USB-C ports from Microsoft. The product has been leaked already and it looks identical to its ancestor.
We expect Microsoft to refresh both these devices. Also, according to the German site, WinFuture Microsoft will introduce a new modern USB-C port.
WinFuture claims that Microsoft eliminates USB-C ports on Surface Laptop 2 or Surface Pro 6.
Both laptops are expected to have Intel’s latest processors. A black color variant will be for the high-end models of both the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2.
The base model of the new Surface Laptop 2 will come with 8GB of RAM, Intel Core i5, and 128GB of SSD storage according to WinFuture.
Surface Pro (6th edition) expected Specs:
The 6th version of the Surface Pro will likely to have the latest Intel Core processor with two new colors on the outside including Black. This device will have Intel Core M (M3-7Y30) with 4GB RAM. M3-7Y30 is a 7th Generation Intel(R) CoreTM m Processor. It’ base frequency is 1.00 GHz and could go up to 2.60 GHz. It has 4 MB cache with a bus speed of 4 GT/s OPI. It can hold a maximum memory size of 16 GB (LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600).
In graphics, it has Intel(R) HD Graphics 615 with a minimum of 300 MHz and a maximum 900 MHz. The maximum amount of memory accessible to processor graphics is 16GB.
Surface Laptop (2nd edition) expected specs:
Surface Laptop is expected to have Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core SoC (1.6 GHz base clock, 3.6 GHz maximum).
Core i5-8250U is 8th Generation Intel(R) CoreTM i5 Processor. It’ base frequency is 1.60 GHz and could go up to 3.40 GHz. It has 6 MB cache with a bus speed of 4 GT/s OPI. It can hold a maximum memory size of 32 GB (DDR4-2400, LPDDR3-2133).
In graphics, it has Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 with a minimum of 300 MHz and a maximum 1.10 GHz. The maximum amount of memory accessible to processor graphics is 32GB.
Minimum built-in data storage is likely around 128 GB. All this with 8GB of RAM on top!
The Surface Laptop 2 comes with 256GB SSD as the base model with 16GB / 512GB and 16GB/1TB variants with the same i5 processor.
The event begins on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018. at 4 PM Eastern Time.
