Google launches affordable Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL

Last year, a mid-range Google phone got leaked online with a Snapdragon 670 processor on board. The rumor suggested that Google is working on affordable Pixel smartphones. When Google teased introduction of something new in the Pixel family saying, “Something big is coming to the Pixel Universe,” it almost confirmed that the company is going to reveal new smartphones this May.

Well, the wait is over, and Google officially unveiled Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL at its annual developer’s conference, Google IO. The mid-range Pixel smartphones are priced at $399 (Pixel 3a) and $479 (Pixel 3a XL) rocking the same camera sensor from their elder siblings, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL and camera features like Night Sight and others.

These cheap Pixel phones have a mid-range processor which makes them slower than the flagship phones of their family, but the camera from Pixel 3 helps them in shining among other smartphones of this class. As a Pixel device, Google promises three years of support and OS updates for the phones, so you’ll be able to enjoy the latest Android OS experience without waiting too long.

The phones are going on sale today and are available in three different colors, Just Black, Clearly White, and Purple-ish color. Google promises full-day battery life for Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL as the adaptive battery in Android Pie learns from user’s phone usage and saves battery juice accordingly.

The new mid-rangers reminds us of affordable Nexus phones which the company discontinued a few years back and decided to move forward with the Pixel brand — these affordable smartphones rival Galaxy S10e, iPhone XR, OnePlus smartphones and other mid-rangers.
