Facebook Oculus Connect 5; All you need to know about the big event!

Facebook Oculus started off as an event for the launch of VR headsets which later became the annual VR developers meet arranged by Facebook. Every year, VR developers from different parts of the world come together, discuss ongoing VR ventures, the future of its technology and whatnot. It provides a platform for a healthy discourse on VR technology.

This year, Facebook Oculus Connect 5 is going to take place in San Jose, California starting September 25th. The event is going to be streamed live on Facebook at 10 a.m PT (Source: Shacknews).

Let’s head straight to what to expect from it.

A little bit more about Oculus Santa Cruz Project

We have been anticipating Oculus Santa Cruz (the name has not been confirmed as yet) for quite a long time now. Rumor has it that the headset is not going to be released anytime this year. So what are we expecting from Oculus 2018 then? A release date and its price, please? That’s all we can ask for right now. The first headset by Oculus, Oculus Go, was highly priced. Its initial cost was about $200. We are hoping that the price bracket does not go beyond the normal price range of $250-500. For a high-end VR headset, anything around $500 sounds good.

Specs

As far as the specs are concerned, here’s what we know:

  • Snapdragon 845
  • Sports positional tracking
  • Two fully hand controllers

Note: Not all the specs mentioned above are confirmed.

Have a look at its last year update:

We also expect to hear about the ongoing research in the Facebook Reality Lab. It is the new name that has been given to the Oculus lab this year. All in all, we can’t wait to find out what this year’s Oculus conference would bring.

Come back again as we will keep updating our page as soon as we get in touch with our birds!
