If you are seeing your previous conversations popping up again as new unread messages, then don’t worry.
It is the latest glitch of Facebook, where Facebook is sending old messages back to people as unread or new conversations.
A complaint on twitter led Facebook to notice that the older conversations for some members were making it back to their messenger as new, unread messages. Noticing this, Facebook’s spokesperson told The Verge,
“Some people are seeing older messages on Facebook.com. We are aware of the issue and are actively working to resolve it in as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

With these messages being resurfaced, people are reminded of the incident when Facebook purposefully, brought up painful memories as “On this day.” This was because Facebook’s algorithm was unable to differentiate between cheerful or sad posts. This was a real failure of understanding the human.
However, this time it seems like the bug in the code or some issue with the date and time routines, which led to this feature not pleasing everyone. Some people struggled really hard to shake off a bad memory or a painful experience. They are going through those painful memories, again, because of Facebook.

Memories or conversations that have been deleted or permanently removed are not in the list of the ones resurfacing. But, the ones that still lay in your inbox or the archive folder might appear to haunt you or make you happy. Depends on what Facebook’s algorithm picks for you!
The Facebook spokesperson told the Verge:
“Earlier today, some people may have experienced Facebook resending older messages. The issue, caused by software updates, has been fully resolved. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
But with this, Facebook should realize that it is not as simple as that, especially for the social media giant which has been continuously under the spotlight for making blunders this year!
