Apple announces iPad 7th gen with Apple Pencil and keyboard support

Apple made multiple announcements for several products at its September event, including Apple TV+ streaming service, Apple Arcade, the new iPhones, Apple Watch Series 5, and the new seventh-generation of iPads. If you missed the event, then you can take a look at Apple Event 2019 highlights here.

Apple outlined the specifications, features, and capabilities, and price of the new iPad lineup.

“The new iPad packs even greater value into Apple’s most popular and affordable iPad model featuring a larger 10.2-inch Retina display, Apple Pencil support, and the full-size Smart Keyboard for the first time,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Product Marketing Vice President.

The 10.2-inch Retina display has almost 3.5 million pixels and a wide viewing angle that makes it a crisp canvas for creative expression, as well as being perfect for immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences. Now the Apple iPad users can take advantage of their improved cameras and advanced sensors.

It is equipped with the powerful A10 Fusion chip. Apple claims that the new iPads are twice as fast as the best-selling Windows PCs.

The tablet is designed to be ultra-portable and weighs about 450 grams. Staying connected on the iPad is easy thanks to its ultra-fast wireless Gigabit-level LTE connectivity, which offers mobile data connections up to three times faster. It doesn’t have Face ID, but you can still protect your iPad with Touch ID.

Another exciting development is that iPadOS will be running on the new iPad, introducing powerful new ways of multitasking, managing, and marking documents. Besides, it also comes with Apple Pencil and Apple Keyboard support, however, you’ve to buy both of them separately.

iPadOS brings intuitive and powerful features designed for the exclusive iPad experience. A redesigned home screen shows more apps on each page, and you can now add the Today view, which offers quick access to widgets to view information at a glance, such as news headlines, weather and calendar events.

Working with several files and documents from the same app is now easier on the iPad thanks to the Split View.

With iPadOS, document management in the Files app is even more powerful thanks to compatibility with external USB storage devices. Safari takes desktop navigation to the iPad so that users always access the websites with the best optimization for the iPad, as well as compatibility with popular web-apps, such as Squarespace and Google Docs.

The new 7th generation Apple iPad starts at $329 and will be available beginning September 30th. The slimmer iPad Air has a 10.5-inch screen goes for $499 while the iPad Mini starts at $399 and features a 7.9-inch display. At the top of the line, there will be the iPad Pro that has the option for an 11-inch or 12.9-inch screen and begins at $800.
